From
my own experience with Twitter, I have found that @shaunking is the most
influential African American actively using the site. Shaun King is a guy from my hometown who has
in the most humble way gained an enormous amount of followers by paying it
forward, giving selflessly and changing the world one tweet and act of kindness
at a time. Shaun has developed from a small town guy in KY, a graduate from
Morehouse College turned pastor of an innovative church, world traveler and
philanthropist. With influences on his side and offering up to be a part of his
team, Shaun King created TwitChange, the World’s first online Twitter celebrity
auction for bids in social media advertising and proceeds going to Haiti. Shaun
gathered over 70 of us from all over the World to take a trip to Haiti and make
a huge impact during our visit. TwitChange quickly sold and Shaun continued to
follow his calling as a life changer and world saver. With any discriminating
issue, family lost in poverty, or random person in need along with the support
from celebrities like Eva Longoria, Shaun King now runs @HopeMob. With one tweet, Shaun can request someone on
the other side of the country or world help someone make a difference and it
will happen instantly. Shaun has learned the true essence of taking advantage of
social media and literally using to make the world a better place. I am proud
to know him as my friend and mentor from a distance.
